Information for Visiting Preachers
Audio Visual equipment
We have a digital projector attached to a church computer, which can be used to show Powerpoint presentations, and we usually have someone to operate this.
We also have an overhead projector, a flipchart and a board and easel for visual aids.
There is an integral cassette player, and we can rig up a CD player through the main speakers if advance notice is given.
We have a hearing loop system - it is important to use one of the microphones so any hearing-impaired members of the congregation can pick up the loop signal.
Hymn resources
We have 'Singing the Faith', 'Songs of Fellowship' and 'Hymns and Psalms' and a CCL licence (198375) so we can use additional songs on the projectors or service sheet. It would be helpful if you could let us have the hymn numbers and any readings by the previous Thursday.
Services - our custom and practice
We have a prayer request book for people to write in, which is usually brought forward by one of the stewards during the second hymn. It is expected that the preacher will incorporate these requests in their prayers of intercession.
At 10:30am, some children may be present for the first part of the service, and many preachers do a short children's address between the first and second hymns, or arrange for our Worship Leaders to do this. The children usually go off to Young Church after the second hymn, with the preacher saying a brief prayer for them.
Worship Leaders
Please get in touch as soon as possible if you would like our worship leaders to help with any part of the service.
