Charitable Appeals and good causes supported
Rotary Shoebox appeal
Each November we pack shoe boxes full of gifts and goodies, for distribution by the charity to orphans and vulnerable children living in often difficult circumstances overseas
Nigerian Health Care project
This is a project organised by the Wesley Guild nationally, to boost healthcare in Nigeria. Members have been saving and donating their 5p pieces to this for several years now. Full details on the Nigerian Health Care project website.
Other charities supported:
We make occasional donations to the following:
- Carecent, a local homeless charity, providing breakfasts Monday to Saturday in York town centre.
- Christian Aid
- All We Can (Methodist Relief and Development)
- Methodist Homes for the Aged
- Action for Children
- Smile International
Church members are also involved in raising funds for Actionaid, the Candlelighters Trust and Tearfund, and some invest money in Shared Interest.
Many members are concerned about trade justice, and we have Traidcraft stalls at some of our coffee mornings and after services.
